This has nothing to do with the intitalVisit() which is invoked when you register the context. This is about constructing multiple contexts from a single BeanMetaData. That is correct. The tests have two versions, a plain version that constructs the BeanMetaData in line and an xml version. The xml version does use the controller, but the inline version only uses the configurator. You can change the inline version to use a full controller. See AbstractKernelConfigTest. We already do something similar in JBossMQ to make sure the Xid is serializable. See org.jboss.mq.JBossMQXid It should just be a case that when pad is true we create a new xid from the old one. P.S. Since Oracle fixed the problem in their latest releases this feature is only useful anyway for legacy Oracle. Is this already solved? Can the two configurations (one for the webapp and one for the EE service) not live together? Relying on the command interface will result in problems trying to port the webapp on containers like Tomcat, no?
