[Design of Management Features on JBoss] - java.awt.headless by default

Hi. I see some applications are failing to undeploy thus blocking server shutdown when java.awt.headless is not set. As well some are having issues running without that option. One of them is hudson that fails to generate certain graphics when that option is not set. As well a user reported jboss failing to shutdown without the option - http://www.nabble.com/forum/ViewPost.jtp?post=13642773&framed=y I saw also an old question about similar shutdown issue http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3995057#3995057 I don't know if that is just a bad application design but anyway wouldn't it be better to have that option set by default for JBoss AS? Will that generate any negative effects for other users? [Design of EJB 3.0] - Re: JndiInject and confused use of generics for polymorphism

An issue I have run into is that the updated JndiInjectHandler generic that extends Environment does not work with the ClientContainer usage, which passes in a JBossClientMetaData instance. This only extends the RemoteEnvionrment interface. I have changed this as nothing was using the extended Environment features. just to let know: all my problems are resolved once i started using the JBoss ESB Server 4.2.1GA version. Some of the probs that I faced are due to the fact that the some jar files like that of jboss messaging etc. on my client side were not compatible with new ones. On the other hand, I think, the problems that I faced are due to jboss-messaging 1.4.0GA which are resolved in its SP1. I believe Adrian found the problem -- IPv6: see http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=123463 . I've updated testsuite/imports/server-configs.xml to set java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true on all configs. If I run the JGroups McastSenderTest and McastReceiverTest I can send messages from a process bound to localhost to a process bound to $MYTESTIP_1 on a number of QA lab machines. But a process bound to localhost cannot receive the messages sent from localhost. Specifying -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true solves the problem. Actually ACL object defines a notion of domain, so 1/ is not very relevant. The real problem is that in the old metadata the EnvironmentRefGroup does have jndiRefs, while in the new Environment does not. So we need to fix that issue. Then interceptors can have JndiInject again. Then again, @JndiInject(jndiName="A") is the same as @Resource(mappedName="A") So we might as well chuck it out the window. Changing the JndiInjectHandler to accept an Environment and do nothing unless it's a JBossEnterpriseBeanMD is just killing the whole generic. We should have made two handler lists one for Environment and one for JBossEnterpriseBeanMD. With the one for JBossEnterpriseMD containing a deffering handler to the other list. And I'm coming to Neuchatel next month so hopefully I can pay up. :-) I'll apply the same to all the server:config entries; it's likely the underlying cause of the long-discussed "hudson noip test run doesn't complete" problem. http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=IPv6 discusses the known issues with IPv6 and JGroups.
