Hi, I think I may have caused a little confusion with this patch, I don't think I explained it particularly well. This patch doesn't enable JBoss connect to an external SASL enabled server. It is designed to make JBoss the SASL authentication provider, so where the username/password pairs come from doesn't really matter. In other words, it allows SASL enabled clients (e.g. IMAP mail clients) to authenticate against a JBoss server. Mike. all jira issues have been looked resolved or moved. code is tagged and ready to be released. please hold commits for a day and test the current HEAD of CVS. then we can release this version in tomorrow. we'll continue to work on the HEAD branch towards 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. those releases will contain bug fixes and urgent feature requests only. after that, we'll probably split a BRANCH_3_2 and start working on 3.3 on HEAD of CVS. I spotted a few problems: 1. The maven artifacts are getting deployed to ${maven.cvs.root}, which is an unset variable. Do I have to set it, or should it be derived from jboss.repository.root by the plugin? 2. My aggrate is ignored: [INFO] Ignoring project with packaging type: pom 3. Will imports be autogenerated or shall I add them to the poms (TODO in plugin)? You can commit it in https://svn.jboss.org/repos/jbossas/projects/ejb3/trunk/locator. Try to make the directory simular to other JBoss projects and if possible add a maven2 pom for compilation. You can look at projects/javaee for examples (the ones in ejb3 are outdated). You'll probably need the JavaEE API anyway (as soon as I have the new maven-deploy-plugin working they will appear in the repository). I've added a configuration parameter, org.jboss.remoting.transport.bisocket.Bisocket.MAX_RETRIES (actual value "maxRetries") that is used by BisocketClientInvoker to govern the number of attempts to get the secondary locator, and in BisocketServerInvoker to govern the number of attempts to create both ordinary and control sockets. The default value is 10. I'm guessing for a Cache that has multiple regions that the key/value pairs will likely be different types. But I concede there may be cases where the data types are homogeneous across the cache. The only downside I see, from a user perspective, is that one might wonder if it is good practice to use a untyped cache. The best argument against typing, is that as the eventual practice will be to share a different types of data in a single cache, rather than have multiple caches.
