1) a sar is not portable and 2) it doesn't provide an easy evaluation distribution. i want 2 distributions out of the box: 1) a war distribution with configurations for standard java and everything inside this one single jar 2) a .ear enterprise application with configurations for enterprise java usage and everything inside this one single .ear file. there are *lots* of ways on how we could split up things that might potentially be deployed separate. it creates a combinatorial explosion of possibilities, which is not possible to document or maintain. at least not with the resources we have now. that is why my focus is first on creating the 2 nice integrated easy-evaluatable packages as mentioned above. once we have those and within the constraints sketched above, we should think of how we can make it easier for people to undeploy certain parts or tweak those deployment packages. it will never be as easy as just deleting a file. it will always involve updating configuration files (which means unzip/update/re-zip). but that is due to the fact that the java standards are all based on zipping configuration files in the packages. anything else becomes less portable. No, this service is no longer experimental. In fact, in jboss-head (JBoss5) the failover config is part of the main *-datasource configurations making the ha-*-datasource configs redundant. Thanks for all the input. I think I should hold off on this and make Scott aware of JBPM requirements for versioning. It looks like we can't unify jbpm with JBoss AS deployment until JBoss 5. I know Scott has thought a lot and implemented a bunch around versioning applications, but I'm not sure he is aware of jbpm requirements. Here's an idea - since Bill is reevaluating jBPM as a deployer, perhaps the timer service ought to be remade as a SAR inside of the deployer when that happens. The servlet class could still be available as an option in this case. That way, no functionality is lost, but it's still integrated (working right out of the box) from an evaluation platform perspective. And no nasty surprises if/when they remove the console WAR. This was a Gravel bug. It's fixed in the new version, so just rebuilding the console should download it. It applied to every case where a collection was being iterated over. newlines in the console. i just saw some missing newlines in the feedback messages of the console. just like there were some missing newlines in the demo last week (maybe that was the same) david, are you fixing that ? do we need to report all new line problems that we encounter, or did you do a full scan for that type of problem already ? The only thing I found was a link bringing me back here. It suggests requesting a task be opened for tracking purposes. Can someone open a task to create a new class that will filter rules based on a regular expression? I've called the class RuleNameRegexAgendaFilter and it's already written. Ah yes even better. But this spi shouldn't be in AS workspace, but in AS projects because it must be equal both in AS 4.2 and AS 5.0. Then it's easily mavenazible as well. So effectively I remove security module as a dependency and add security-spi artifact.
