Hi, I tried the change but no luck still the same error. I ried having alook at the source and realised the issue is coming at following section : if (param instanceof JBossActionRequest) { JBossActionRequest jrReq = (JBossActionRequest) param; if (jrReq.getUser() != null) { extractCredentialsFromUser(jrReq.getUser(), userModule, membershipModule, userProfileModule); } } else if (param instanceof JBossRenderRequest) { JBossRenderRequest jrReq = (JBossRenderRequest) param; if (jrReq.getUser() != null) { extractCredentialsFromUser(jrReq.getUser(), userModule, membershipModule, userProfileModule); } else { name = "Unknown"; } } else { log.error("You are not running JBoss Portal"); } Now i modified the source to see what is the type for jrReq, the updated logging i had put shows that the jrReq is of type : org.jboss.portal.portlet.impl.jsr168.api.RenderRequestImpl. This as far as i understand has been a portak change to comply to JSR168. Now the object(param) does not posses function for getUser since this is more of JBossRenderer method and not implemented in RenderRequestImpl. Could anyone please explain what i should be doing to remove the error of"[JBossPortalCredentials] You are not running JBoss Portal" and whether the investigations i have made make any sense or not. Yeah, I was thinking in terms of treating the root being gone as being an exception condition that leaves the runtime state in place. Can you give an example of how the logic would be different for an ha-profile? I guess there could be a check if the common root (deploy) is gone vs only the deployment being removed. If we move to a proper notion of subprofiles, then an ha-profile could have completely different logic for determining removed deployments as well. No, if the check of the vfs file says its gone the deployment is undeployed. Now that the control of what has changed, been removed is a function of the profile, this can be easily changed, but what's the logic that differentiates someone removing deploy vs it simply being unavailable? You just need Managed annotations, but this is already there if the service if pojo or mbean. Is there any way for any of these methods to be executed by a different VM? Specifically, from eclipse / JBDS tooling. Currently we launch eclipse as its own process and then designate a far-away folder as an additional deploy location that should be scanned (in addition to the standard server/configName/deploy). This way the user can deploy the same app with minor changes to identical server configs without one deployment conflicting with the other or polluting the shared deploy folder. The APIs mentioned seem pretty handy. Are any exposed for execution via JMX, or am I going to have to find some other solution entirely? I just realized you thought I was using PostOffice.getMappings. The method is using addressManager.getMappings() which seems a valid usage for me.
