[Design of POJO Server] - [JBAS-5589] What to do with org.jboss.hibernate.cache.Deploy

http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-5589 The hibernate-int module contains DeployedTreeCacheProvider, a legacy CacheProvider impl for integrating JBossCache 2.x with Hibernate 3.2.x using a pre-deployed cache mbean. Since this is obsoleted by the JBC2-based RegionFactory impls in hibernate-core 3.3, would anyone strongly object if I removed it? FYI - Carlo has already agreed to scrap org.jboss.ejb3.entity.TreeCacheProviderHook - a similar legacy JBC2-based CacheProvider impl in ejb3/core. Just checkout trunk, type ant.. and 15 seconds later you're done from compiling and running 1600 tests. [Design of Messaging on JBoss (Messaging/JBoss)] - Super fast test suite

I want to say thanks to the team for a brilliant job in getting this done :) It isn't fun writing tests but now we can boast a test suite including 1500 pure unit tests that run in less than 10 seconds total ! And a further 800 (?) integration, timing and concurrent tests that only take about 8 mins to run. This is going to make our lives a lot easier going ahead. No more three hour test runs. Except where only required by a single EJB3 Module, we've put the dependencies into EJB3 Build POM's "dependencyManagement" section, where the version and scope may be inherited by sub-modules. You'll still need to put the groupId and artifactId into "Proxy", but the version will be set by EJB3 Build. One caveat: Ensure EJB3 Proxy has a parent of the correct EJB3 Build SNAPSHOT that you've changed. In general, we'd like to keep the versions closely aligned with those used by the AS Component Matrix (repos/jbossas/trunk/component-matrix/pom.xml) such that we compile/test against same versions used in the AS runtime, but we currently have no shared contract. The jar in the snapshots repository (http://snapshots.jboss.org/maven2/org/jboss/client/jbossall-client/) is from April and I believe it was just a manual upload of the jar built by ant. That was from before the switch to a manifest only jar. What classes do you need to compile against? Maybe you can use one of the client jars built by maven from the CR1 release. For example there is a server client jar here http://repository.jboss.org/maven2/org/jboss/jbossas/jboss-as-server/5.0..... For the CR2 release I will try to put together a pom that can be used to pull in all the client jars.
