One of the things I would like to see is a move towards a model similar to OSGi, but this is really something for after the GA. Each component/service should be a separate bundle that could be dynamically loaded/unloaded/configured. I also think that the ESB should not be tied to the AS as it may be desirable to deploy parts of it in an environment which does not have the necessary resources.
