I'm going to knock together a very basic multiplex transport (not intended for actual use) that we can use to benchmark against the remoting multiplex implementation (and the "lite" multiplex implementation), just so we know where we stand when it comes to performance, NIO, numbers of communications etc. Otherwise it's just educated guesswork.
