My concern with the Configuration approach is that I'd see it as a static object - something that contains static configs and that can be reused. But I do see your point re: the TM and Channel. Perhaps the Configuration could have a Runtime attached to it which contains these, and this Runtime is transient/destroyed when the cache is stopped?
