Even when i stop apache http server, the connections don't get released. Then thread/connection pool gets full, server doesn't accept any new (ajp) request. However on apache, all the established connections get into closed_wait state and never released. This forces apache to be restarted often. This solves our issue. I think there are few other discussions in jboss forum on this issue . I think this one should get into ajp documentation. Usually Apache and jboss sits in between firewalls and the probability of hitting this issue is high.
