It was easier because it was much less intrusive, so I could be more sure I didn't break anything. Not because the code is smaller. Thanks for the registerAndConfigureService tip, I didn't notice this method. I don't think I can simply use it though, since that would deploy ConnectorMBean, but what I need is to deploy a RemotingJMXWrapperMBean which wraps the Connector and doesn't allow access to it from outside.
