A string serverId could work fine for jvmRoute and HAPartition. The default hostname value would be no good if you had a vertical cluster or were concerned about leaking your hostnames as part of a web session id. But then you just have to set it to something else. A GUID might work for JBM; Tim is looking into it. AIUI, basic issue is the type of the value needs to be performant in database queries.
