I understand what you are saying about fluid layouts (it's alot like my post here). But the "widget" you are talking about should also have a dynamic width, and the layout within the portlet is defined by the user. So what is it that you want JBoss Portal to handle? i.e. A combination of column grids(or templates) that the user can pick from and configure for different regions of a portlet?
