Once a release is tagged and uploaded to the maven2 repository, it's writen in stone you cannot go back and change it because the artifacts are already downloaded and cached by others. If you want to make changes you create a *new* release (SP1, 1.4.2, etc.) We had changed the AS build to compenstate for the error, that was enough.
