Thanks, I will look into that. I think that answers a lot of the other questions I was
about to ask.

However, I also need to be able to have 

  | <aop>
  | </aop>
  | 

at the top level so that I can support deployments similar to the current -aop.xml. Do you
have any tips on how to achieve that?
