If you want to use jBPM in any other environment you should change the persistence configuration to use the database that you want. jBPM5 is using JPA as a persistence layer, and Hibernate as a persistence provider, so you should check your database vendor against this projects to see if it will work for you or if you need to do some adjustments in the configurations.
