I am not aware where we are using commons logging. But commons logging should be *banned*. We should use JBoss logging because it provide builtin "trace" support. But using log4j is fine too as it leads to the same result, the main difference is that it does not provide trace support. I don't know if today JBoss Commons is available as a standalone project or not. We need to check the plans here.
