There's actually two known issues here, but we didn't have JIRA issues for either so I've created them. 1) DeploymentUnit's attachments are serializing too much https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBDEPLOY-68 2) Use the profile service to check deployment structure not the DeploymentUnit https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-5823 in the testsuite. In practice, the DeploymentUnit should just be a server side thing. It is the profile service that provides the real public/remote api for deployments.
