If you're a manager, you should have various links in the search criteria options for this: In case the user is searching for tasks, the user could be presented a list of his subordinates with a check box in front of each person. Checking that box means that the manager will filter tasks for this person (these persons) and still the manager will be able to specify all other task instance criteria as well.
