[Design of JBoss jBPM] - suggestion self deployment API

It seems features are being deprecated or don't exist that would help with self-deployment during application start-up. A self-deployment scenario could be: 1) Is persistence service set up (do database tables exist)? If not, set up persistence service (create schema). 2) Is Process Definition deployed? If not, deploy Process Definition. 3) etc. The problem is that the API has methods to do things, but not test if they are already done, e.g. JbpmConfiguration.createSchema() -- how do you test if schema already exists (JbpmSchema.hasTables() only available through deprecated JbpmSessionFactory?). JbpmContext.deployProcessDefinition() -- to test if deployed, requires trapping error with JbpmContext.getLatestProcessDefinition()? jBPM version 2 seemed to have properties to tell the persistence service to create the schema if not already created (jbpm.create.tables); disappeared in version 3? It would be useful if the API exposed methods to test the state of deployment to help the self-deployment scenario. You are hitting the issue discussed at http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBCACHE-1047. If you were using code built from the latest HEAD you could: ... | CacheJmxWrapper wrapper = new CacheJmxWrapper(myCache); | wrapper.setManageCacheLifecycle(true); | JmxUtil.registerCacheMBean(mBeanServer, wrapper, mBeanNameStr); | ... This thread though makes me realize that that's still pretty broken, although it should work fine for your use case. [Design of JBossCache] - Can't control (Tree)Cache via JConsole

I'm using JDK 1.6, and JBossCache 2.0.0 (BETA). I create a TreeCache, run it, test it, with no problem. I put a listener to track changes to the (Tree) cache. I registered the cache with the MBeanServer. No problem. I brought up JConsole and I see my test program. I try to invoke the Start/Stop methods exposed via the JConsole, I get feedback on the success when I invoke them (press the button), but my listener never gets invoked. Any ideas, where I can start? I need to able to control the cache remotely. I have integrated the logging stuff into AOP core. AspectManager.verbose is still the main switch for verbose logging from the AOP core classes. Rather than doing: | Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(SomeClass.class); | Do | Logger logger = AOPLogger.getLogger(SomeClass.class); | AOPLogger is a subclass of Logger whose only function is to check if the chosen LoggerPlugin cannot be found, and if so to make sure we use a SystemOutLoggerPlugin I implemented. This prints out everything to System.out regardless of logging level. So AspectManager.verbose turns on logging, and integrating with log4j allows more fine-grained control over what is logged.
