[Design of JBoss Portal] - pending CMS tasks

A few CMS tasks have no fix versions currently in JIRA. I put aside the tasks related to JCR and rather focus on tasks related to features/usability. I want to reach a consensus for those tasks in order to get a target resolution. I don't want to invest much resource in the CMS development itself in term of new features, however I do want to improve what is existing and also the integration with the portal. [JBoss Portal Documentation] - JIRA components

We used to have one single component called "Portal Documentation". I renamed it to "Portal Reference Guide" and created "Portal User Guide" and "Portal Quickstart Guide" in order to target more easily the different issues. [Design of JBossCache] - @CacheListener impl must be public?

Notifier.isValidListenerClass() enforces a requirement that the @CacheListener be declared public. Is that necessary for the inspection of annotations on the methods? In the AS codebase I have a number of inner class CacheListener impls that I'd modified to use the new API. But use of them fails at runtime due to the requirement that the class be public. I can of course fix this but it somewhat perturbs the object model. For sure other people are going to stumble onto the same problem, since an inner class subclassing AbstractCacheListener was likely a very common way to use the old API. If this requirement needs to be enforced, isValidListenerClass() should be modified to separately check it and throw an exception with a very explicit message explaining what the problem is. I think the second NPE that you ran into was probably this one: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/SUREFIRE-300 Looks like it has been fixed, but the fixed version hasn't been released yet. I'm not sure about the other one, looks like it could have been something wrong in the assembly configuration. If you try "mvn -X" it will enable debugging, and sometimes this gives more information, but obviously the error handling could be better. The pom packaging type is just for things like a parent pom. So that's why it doesn't compile any of the java files. Maven thinks that your project is just a pom. The dependency management is in there to manage the inter-module dependencies. That way we don't have something like module A and B dependent on module C version 2 and C 2.1 respectively. And doing a full clean of my MC build fixed the other NPE. NPE is not an acceptable error message, and it shouldn't even be failing in the first place. If I had time I'd report these as bugs to Maven, but I'd have to investigate them first so I know how to reproduce them. I've found a way to fix the integration build, but I don't understand it or why it worked before. The microcontainer/build/pom.xml has | <dependencyManagement> |  | <dependencies> | <dependency> | <groupId>org.jboss.microcontainer</groupId> | <artifactId>jboss-aop-mc-int</artifactId> | <version>${project.version}</version> | </dependency> | etc. | I copied this style into integration/build/pom.xml it doesn't work. However, if I remove the dependencyManagement element then it works?
