[Design of JBoss jBPM] - SubProcessCancellationTest / testWithSubProcess is "suspende

Hi. I saw that in SubProcessCancellationTest the testWithSubProcess method is renamed to _testWithSubProcess, hence deactivated. But it succeeds... Anybody knows why it is removed? Can I include it again? Looking at the paging changes in TransactionImpl. I notice that messages aren't actually paged until commit(), therefore if the transaction is XA and prepare() is called, then the server crashes or is shutdown, the entire transaction is lost, since nothing is recorded until commit! Ouch. Please add a JIRA for this. It also needs tests. There should be a set of tests that test paging with XA transactions and recovery. Ronald, I certainly don't want to introduce a dependency on Spring! I want to 'de-Springify' my test class. If a general solution is found, I can still wrap it up in some Spring bean if needed. I was rather thinking at comparing our solutions and see if we can make something general and more robust out of it. I think your article about 'how to write tests' should come after the explanation of the test case (it'll be a long post otherwise ;-) Tonight, I'm going to take a look at what Tom has provided and see if it fits what I've implemented. [Design of JCA on JBoss] - connection management on tx timeout

A couple of questions related to JBAS-5080, i.e. how connections behave if used either side of a asynchronous transaction timeout. Am I right that the expected behaviour of a connection handle obtained in a transaction but subsequently used after that transaction has been rolled back on another thread, is that it should behave as if closed? The JIRA is not too clear on what the actual fix was. Now the more difficult one: what's the expected JCA behaviour when a Thread that has a transaction context representing an aborted transaction, asks for a new connection? This happens if a transaction timeouts and is rolled back in the background, then the application logic tries to obtain a new connection. The new connection should be part of the ongoing global tx, but that tx is dead. Hopefully the getConnection call will throw an exception if the tx state is other than active? Sure... why not.... But Sping is not my cup of tea (never needed it, or never saw when it was really handy, or....). The thing is that I do not want to introduce a dependency on Spring in jBPM 3. My article also touches on how to posts tests to the forum instead of code snippets, so there were two reasons for writing this. So do you want to post two different articles and refer to a joint effort to create this general solution.
