I'm kind of ambivalent. Unfortunately, at present, we need the "big ball of mud". There would be a lot of work involved in tidying up ESB 4.x to use cleaner classloader dependencies. I think I wouldn't do it. It should be documented, that the people are aware of it. And trigger doesn't sound completly correct to me. And jbpm 3 users know the signal, so the confusion is already there, better handle it by documentation would be my vote. Sine commons-mail is only required if you want to use email functionality in jbpm, I wouldn't have problems with introducing that dependency, if it makes lice easier on our side (say: saves development time for other stuff)...
