With the effort underway to consolidate the client side interceptor models (see http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3970879#3970879), need to revisit a bit the LoadBalancePolicy interface. We'd decided earlier to create a simple base interface with only chooseTarget(FamilyClusterInfo fci) and then to leave a legacy subinterface with a method that took o.j.invocation.Invocation as a param. If we're going to consolidate to a single interceptor model, this raises a few questions: 1) Will we get rid of the subinterface w/ o.j.invocation.Invocation? (An indirect way of asking whether we'll get rid of the old interceptor model for 5.0, or leave it around for ease of migration.) 2) Will we want a method chooseTarget(FamilyClusterInfo, o.j.aop.joinpoint.Invocation) ? This will provide an API similar to the old detached invoker model that any custom policies that people wrote can adapt to. 3) If yes to #1 and #2, in the base interface or a subinterface? 4) Another possibility Tom and I discussed is to create an abstraction of the data that would be passed in the Invocation and pass that to the LoadBalancePolicy, thus reducing the coupling to the invocation type. When I was doing these tests, I got side tracked by another problem. I changed SimpleConnectionManager to add debug System.out on my local copy, and because of some AOP recompilation, the ConnectionListener was not being set any more. After doing a complete clean, it looks like the problem is when having two connections on the client (there is only one client per VM) the second connection didn't get it's delivery list cleared. I'm doing some investigation on this, but it doesn't look like a remoting bug. Vladimir, FYI, the stuff I wrote before for breaking locks, rolling back transactions for state transfer can be found in o.j.c.lock.LockUtil.forceAcquireLock(). This would have been called from StateTransferManager.acquireLocksForStateTransfer() line 401, but it was disabled per the previous discussions in this thread. This was written not for a FLUSH/block use case, but rather to be called as part of a getState() call. See http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBCACHE-315. So, it can't be used directly for FLUSH, but elements may be useful. It's kind of ugly code though; needed another round or two of polishing when we decided to shelve it. And lots of testing. There is an o.j.c.statetransfer.ForcedStateTransferTest that's meant for this; it should fail now due to code being disabled and is ignored by cruisecontrol. Issues with LockUtil.forceAcquireLock(): 1) It combines a) breaking locks and b) waiting for tx's to complete followed by attempted rollback of those that don't into one operation. That most likely should be somewhat separated. 2) It deals with transactions in all stages, including ACTIVE. We only want to deal with ACTIVE transactions on the node that is preparing the state transfer. There's no reason to touch an active transaction on some 3rd node, as the locks it's holding will not affect anything. A tricky thing there is during block() how does a node know its going to be preparing a state transfer (and therefore needs to deal with ACTIVE transactions)? It's not as simple as checking if the node is coordinator, because a partial state transfer call can go to any node. Perhaps an algorithm would be: 1) In block() on all nodes a) set a flag or something that will block any ACTIVE transactions from proceeding (i.e. entering prepare() phase of 2PC) b) wait for complete / rollback any transactions that are beyond ACTIVE 2) In getState() on node that's providing state, execute something pretty much like what I already wrote. That will deal with a) any ACTIVE transactions on that node b) any leftover locks held by sick nodes that didn't properly clean up after themselves in block() 3) What's the call to "unblock"? How does the cache know its safe to resume normal operations (e.g. revert flag set in 1a)? [Javassist development Forum] - jbossall-client.jar cause exception with tomcat

Hi all. I want to use jbossall-client.jar of version 4.0.3. When I try to connect to the jboss application server (through tomcat) I get the following exception: javax.management.MBeanException: nested exception is Incomplete Deployment listing This is after I've removed the javax.servlet folder as suggested in other posts. Do you have any idea why this is happening ? Is there a way to solve it ? OK, at this stage I must hold the record for the most screwups when posting to threads here. However, I've no idea why only half the material got posted this time. Anyway, here's what was supposed to follow Estebans quote.... In some ways it's a matter of taste I guess. I purposely didn't nest them simply because I thought it made more sense to define all the Actions in one place and reuse them across the ListenerConfigs where needed. This is common on IoC container configs such as with Spring i.e. define a bean in one place and ref it somewhere else in a completely seperate configuration subtree. Sorry, we havnt "YET" got the history logs and stats working, and it is on an internal area that doesnt have outside access unfortunatly. Also, if you are working with the starters kit , have you started by looking in the "monitor" webpage in the console? That shows some of the data that is available, and if you look at the code it may show you which tables it is being generated from.
