[Design of JCA on JBoss] - Expose "testConnection" to JMX / ProfileService

Hi, would it be possible to expose a "tesConnection" method to JMX or the profile service, that basically tries to get a connection with the backend database and returns true if this was successful. Such an operation could be very handy for tools like Jopr. [Design of EJB 3.0] - EJB3 as ManagedObjects and attributes

Hi, In the profile service, the individual session beans (other bean types too?) are exposed as managed objects below the ejb-jar as a ManagedDeployment. In the jmx-world, the EJB's attributes are exposed as in AS4 - are those available in the PS too? If so how can those be obtained - if not will they be made available soon? Darran, ping me directly if you need any kind of assistance for this from the portal side. We are more than open to add tweaks you need into portal codebase. From what you say it seems we need to have separate version of IdentityLoginModule that extends LDAPExtUserModuleImpl to perform auth against MSAD. I think it is fine to have such version but as it will be maintained by us we'll need to have a way to test it. Do you have any kind of automation tests for JBoss Negotiation that we could reuse? Even if not I will need to cach up on setting up JBoss Negotiation so we can make it part of our QA in the future. guys, i realized that we have the end dates in the history as well. so having the end state set to 'ended' would be duplicating information that is already easy queryable. select .. | from ... | where histProcInst.state = 'ended' | | == | | select .. | from ... | where histProcInst.end is not null so i'll keep a single state in the history process instance entity. I'm not going to disable ClusterPartitionManagedObjectsTestCase in the testsuite even though this is a known issue. It was passing until a couple weeks ago. Jason, if you want to disable it as a known issue, I don't mind. It's just that I'm going to be pretty much unavailable for the next few days and I don't want to disable the test and thus partially hide the problem, and then disappear. I've been trying to figure out why the ClusterPartitionManagedObjectTestCase is failing[1]. Started failing about 10 days ago. Problem is 2 beans (HAPartition and DistributedReplicantManager) in the same hapartition-jboss-beans.xml have the same MO name, which is the -g value, by default DefaultPartition. They have different nameType values, so their full names are different, but the full names aren't used in a critical place. Traced the problem to this in KernelDeploymentManagedObjectCreator.build(...): | // The component managed objects need to be in the root map | ManagedObject compMO = (ManagedObject) gv.getValue(); | // Use the ManagedObject name if it's not the same as the attachmentName | String managedObjectName = compUnit.getName(); | if(compMO != null && compMO.getAttachmentName() != null) | { | managedObjectName = compMO.getAttachmentName().equals(compMO.getName()) ? | compUnit.getName() : compMO.getName(); | } | // Add the managed object | managedObjects.put(managedObjectName, compMO); The "managedObjectName" that is the key in the map is just the plain MO.name, not qualified by the nameType. As a result the DistributedReplicantManager replaces the HAPartition in the map, so there is no HAPartition ManagedComponent visible and the test fails. (The map ends up being passed to ManagedDeploymentImpl's c'tor.) >From my review, I don't see any reason this map key couldn't be name/nameType; i.e. I don't see it breaking anything. Looking at the usage of ManagedDeployment in my AS workspace: 1) No one uses public Set getManagedObjectNames(); 2) There are a couple calls to public Map<String, ManagedObject> getManagedObjects(); but they just use the values, other than logging the keys. 3) Drat! Just found that in a couple places AbstractAttachmentStore passes ManagedObject.getName() as the param to public ManagedObject getManagedObject(String name); So that would have to be changed. :( I could try to hack around this, but I really don't want to. I'll just keep writing replies here. ;) Another thing that occurs to me: instead of invoking over the JMX bus to get some freeform String attribute, maybe instead we should grab the jboss-bootstrap-spi-as JBossASServerConfig from the ObjectName, then perform typesafe operations upon it. Like: JBossASServerConfig config = mbeanServer.get(ObjectName); | URL jbossHome = config.getJBossHome(); ...but I'll leave that impl detail up to you guys.
