Using JAAS with BRMS on Weblogic
by Harris Trevor
We are using BRMS on Weblogic 9.2 and we want to use JAAS
authentication. We have configured components.xml to include the line:
<security:identity authenticate-method="#{authenticator.authenticate}"
jaas-config-name="myrealm"/>
We get an error message "An error has occurred on the server. See
serverl log for details."
The server log shows
<26-Oct-2007 15:22:32 o'clock BST> <Error> <ServletContext-/drools2>

Binding\synchronization between jboss\jbrms and eclipse\drool...
by mmquelo massi
Hi there,
I am a computer science student and I am writing my final thesis
on Open-source BRMSs.
Sorry for cross posting, I did not know which Mailing list
was the most appropriate for my questions...
I downloaded the Drools *drools-4.0.2-eclipse.zip* file,
I added it as ECLIPSE plug-in and everything went as
I expected.
Then I downloaded *drools-4.0.2-brms.zip* to have an
actual DROOLS BRMS, I deployed it in* ...\jboss 4.0.5\server\default*
directory and everything went fine.
Now I have got some simple questions......
How can I bind "eclipse-drools" with "jboss-drools"?
How can I make jbrms repository visible from\within eclipse?
I hope that the jbrms "xml export" function is not the only way
to do that.
I hope there is some kind of synchronization\bind between eclipse-drools
and jboss-jbrms repositories...... Am I dreaming something unreal?
Thank you very much for any help you can give me.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Rule Engine Benchmarking...
by mmquelo massi
Hi there!
I was wondering whether there exists a complete benchmark on Drools Rule
Engine or not.
Is there any new public benchmark comparing Drools to another Rule Engine?
In case I should do it by myself, what set of parametes should I consider in
order
to benchmark a Business rule engine?... I mean the minumum set.
I spent a couple of weeks reading stuff on BRMS and I think the main
parameters are:
SBVR compliance, JSR 94 Compliance, RETE compliance, Inference performance,
usability...
Could You suggest me anything else?
Thank you very much.
Kind regards.

Drools usage
by Antony BRUGGER
I'm not sure that this is the right place to ask this but I try anyway.
For one of our project we want to use JBoss Drools.
Although we are convinced (technical people) that this is the right choice
for the project, our management wants to be reassure and they'd like to
have some examples of successful project using Drools in different clients.
Do you have such examples?
Cheers

deferring binding (Object type fields) and comparable
by Michael Neale
Edson - I noticed (lost the JIRA for it) that if you have a fact field of
type "Object" - and you do:
Foo(someObject < 42)
then if at runtime, you make someObject and integer, it fails (class cast
exception) as it didn't know what type someObject would be (and it takes a
bad guess).
What should we do? Should we do some last minute dynamic coercion in the
ObjectFactory.java ?

mailer gui
by Mark Proctor
I'm just working on a email gui for ruleflow. The idea here is a special
action node for ruleflow where the variables used for the email action
are determined by the rule LHS constraint, furhter more the email action
GUI will execute for each matched tuple (row) of data. Nearly all fields
will be processed as an MVEL template and thus its content will be
interpolated if variables are used. Anyway looking for some feedback on
initial GUI layout. Also any ideas on how best to impl error handling, I
was just going to allow a logger to be specified, think it should do
anything else? Are there any more JavaMail fields I should be exposing
that would be useful?

Intellij IDEA 7 open source License key available for JBoss Drools
by Geoffrey De Smet
Hi guys,
As most you probably of know, I am not a big Eclipse fan and I prefer
IntelliJ IDEA.
Yea, it's not open source, which is sad, but at least I don't think this
IDE hates me personally :)
Anyway, with the release of IDEA 7 I 've requested a free open source
license key for my weekend work on drools(-solver) and spring-richclient
this morning.
And they have just send me a license key for "JBoss Drools" which I - as
I understand it - can share with the other drools committers for their
work on drools.
As we can't publish the license on the website or mailing list, I 've
send a copy to Mark. If anyone else is interested, you can contact him
or me.
Now, let me see what they whipped up with the maven 2 integration new in
7 :)

BRMS Insurance Sample - 3rd pair of eyes?
by Paul Browne
Fmeyer /Tirelli
Long story, but Mark asked me to take a look at the BRMS insurance
sample. He gets a (free?) trip to Dublin in return, so I'm not quite
sure how that works :-)
Anyway, if you want a 3rd pair of eyes to look at the Insurance sample
let me know. I'm guessing it's just run through it based on the latest
docs (snapshot) and see if it works on JBoss Web or not?
Anything else that I should be looking at?

Persistence and working memory
by Alwyn Donnell
If I create a rule engine implementation utilising stateful rule sessions, what persistence/recovery mechanisms are available within the jboss rule engine to recover asserted facts in the working memory
if there is a problem with the rule-engine server failing ?
Regards
Alwyn
