7.4 alpha1 status
by Steven Hawkins
Hello all,
I have alpha1 built, but I'm waiting on getting access back to sourceforge. If I don't have access again by Monday, I'll post the bits on the jboss.org side.
Thanks,

Teiid Designer
by Barry Lafond
Teiid Designer 7.3 M1 is available now.
This release includes upgrades to the Transformation Editor's handling of updatable views and the ability of Teiid's query engine to interpret more complex Select SQL and perform default Insert, Update and Delete procedures. This also includes ability to handle Trigger actions.
There are also a number of bug fixes/clean-up work that didn't make it into 7.2 that polish off the Teiid View, Preview Data and Execute VDB features user experience.
Grab the kit, install it, take it for a spin. We're targeting release of 7.3 (GA) early next week, so don't wait too long.

Suggesting switching Examples from using Derby to Hsql
by Van Halbert
For the JBoss AS deployment examples, would like to suggest that the examples that use Derby database, to use Hsql. This would enable the examples to be run without installing a database and make the deployment self sufficient.
Would this be okay to do for 7.4 or is there someone against doing this?

Teiid 8 planning
by Steven Hawkins
Hello all,
As soon as we are approaching our first beta of 7.4, we should have the 8.0 bucket ready to go and begin work on a target branch. As mentioned before, 8.0 should be a fairly targeted release with JBoss AS 6 support, appropriate breaking changes, the removal of targeted deprecations, etc. Ideally we'd have something ready by mid June. AS 7 will be much further along at that time. Optimistically we will then start on Teiid 9 targeted to AS 7 and back fill a 8.1 if needed based upon the AS 7 / Teiid 9 timeline.
