How to fix vfs?
by Dimitris Andreadis
We are in the 3rd week of delay for the JBossAS 5.0.1.GA release and there is still no
indication of where this will end.
- We are still on snapshots
<version.org.jboss.vfs>2.2.0-SNAPSHOT</version.org.jboss.vfs>
<version.org.jboss.microcontainer>2.2.0-SNAPSHOT</version.org.jboss.microcontainer>
<version.org.jboss.cl>2.0.3-SNAPSHOT</version.org.jboss.cl>
<version.org.jboss.deployers>2.2.0-SNAPSHOT</version.org.jboss.deployers>
<version.seam.integration>5.2.0-SNAPSHOT</version.seam.integration>
- Every updated snapshot solves some issue but introduces another regression.
The latest ones:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-6513
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBCTS-900
- Although we keep closing issues, the number of JIRA tasks remains constant for the past
few weeks (4-10 open issues)
I know we want to time-box but for this particular release it doesn't make sense to me to
release unless we fix vfs, which was the biggest issue, anyway.
What is going so wrong with VFS and how we can fix it?
All opinions are welcome.

AS 5.1 and JBoss Messaging 2
by Andy Taylor
As part of the AS 5.1 release we will be shipping JBM 2.0 as a
technology preview. This will require 1 or more new profiles to be
created. I have created a branch (Branch_5_x_JBM2) to use for now which
i will merge in once JBM 2.0 is released and there is something concrete
and working.
What new profiles we need to add is open to discussion. We'll definitely
need a copy of default as a start which could be called messaging-2.
However, from a JBM2 point of view, it would be good to also demonstrate
clustering which would mean a copy of all, say messaging-2-all, and
since JBM2 can run with a minimal set of services maybe a
messaging-2-minimal as well.
I appreciate that adding all 3 might be too many new profiles to add so
I'd like to hear peoples views!

Unable able to find the jndi: no valid JNDI binding
by newbie-gero
reetings,
currently i doing my school project using the jboss-4.0.3SP1, spring and
hibernate. When i download my codes which i have written to register a new
user and save the data into the database, it hit an error call mention:
org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Error during deploy; - nested
throwable: (javax.naming.NamingException: resource-ref: java:graffitiDB has
no valid JNDI binding. Check the jboss-web/resource-ref.)
This is what i set up in the mssql-ds.xml:
<datasources>
<local-tx-datasource>
<jndi-name>graffitiDB</jndi-name>
<connection-url>jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/graffiti</connection-url>
<driver-class>com.mysql.jdbc.Driver</driver-class>
<user-name>data</user-name>
<password>base</password>
<metadata>
<type-mapping>mySQL</type-mapping>
</metadata>
</local-tx-datasource>
</datasources>
Inside the web.xml, this is what i put for the <resource-ref>
<resource-ref>
<res-ref-name>jdbc/graffitiDB</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<res-auth>Container</res-auth>
<res-sharing-scope>Shareable</res-sharing-scope>
</resource-ref>
My codes can be download from here:

Thanks for the help in advance :)
