It is either a Sun JDK5 bug or some very subtle incompatibility between
JacORB's CDRInputStream impl (org.jacorb.orb.CDRInputStream) and Sun's
ValueHandler impl (com.sun.corba.se.impl.io.ValueHandlerImpl).
